Peter Adams

Peter Adams

Peter Adams is the Executive Director of the Rockies Venture Club a non-profit organization furthering economic development in Colorado by connecting investors and entrepreneurs through conferences (Angel Capital Summit and Colorado Capital Conference), networking events, educational offerings and facilitation of Colorado’s largest angel investor groups. Peter is also the Managing Director of the Rockies Venture Fund, a leveraged early stage venture capital fund focusing on Colorado deals. His role includes creating deal flow of up to 1000 firms per year, screening for investable companies, developing best practices for due diligence and negotiation, and providing education for angel investors in the areas of valuation, term sheets, negotiation, syndication, and portfolio strategies. Adams has over twenty five years of business experience beginning in the 1980s with a technology company responsible for fulfilling a sole-source contract for all personal computers for the Colorado state government including universities, agencies and related offices. Adams is a serial entrepreneur, having founded five companies and he has also served over a dozen years as Economics Director and as CIO of an international professional services firm. Adams is also the CEO for BizGirls.org, a non-profit summer camp for high-school girls to learn entrepreneurship. Adams is a co-author of “Venture Capital for Dummies,” John Wiley & Sons, 2013.

Betty Arkell

Betty Arkell

Betty Arkell is a partner at Holland & Hart with over 35 years of experience as a corporate and securities lawyer. Her clients include established and emerging growth companies as well as venture capital and other private equity funds. She specializes in venture capital and private equity investments, mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, acquisition finance, corporate restructurings, and general corporate counseling. She also has experience in the formation of private and public venture capital funds.

Ms. Arkell’s prior employment experience includes almost ten years in the Venture Capital/Leveraged Buyout Group of Kirkland & Ellis, where she was a partner. Ms. Arkell was counsel to the Venture Capital Association of Colorado at the time of its formation.

Paul Dickman

Paul Dickman

Paul Dickman is the founder and principal of Breakwater Corporate Finance, which is a consulting firm that provides corporate finance, capital markets and governance consulting to emerging companies, with an emphasis in start-up and micro-cap public companies. Mr. Dickman has served as the Chief Financial Officer for companies in a variety of industries, both domestically and abroad. He has successfully taken numerous companies through multiple fund raising transactions, including private placements of debt and equity and initial public offerings. In addition to working with individual companies, Mr. Dickman provides independent due diligence reports to companies raising capital with FINRA registered Broker Dealers. Prior to establishing Breakwater Corporate Finance, he worked as an auditor with two large regional accounting firms, with an emphasis in auditing small publicly traded companies. He was employed for several years with a private equity investment firm in various capacities. Mr. Dickman received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and accounting, and has been a licensed CPA since 2005. In addition, Mr. Dickman is a Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors, a member of the National Association of Corporate Secretaries, and serves on the board of the Rockies Venture Club, Yippiekiyay Systems, Inc. and Safe Lane Systems, Inc.

Kimberly Lucas is the Founder and Chief People Connector at Goldstone Partners, Inc., a Colorado-based search and talent advisory firm specializing in recruitment strategy and engaged search for privately-held companies. As a seasoned entrepreneur and career coach, Kimberly is committed to helping founders build strong, profitable companies that stand the test of time. As a Certified StrengthsFinder coach she works with individuals and teams to help them achieve their stated objectives. Kimberly is an active mentor for MBA students at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business, serves on the board of the Rockies Venture Club, is a founding member of RVC Women and facilitates a Thinking Partner Mastermind group.

Andrew McGregor

Andrew McGregor

Andrew McGregor is currently a Board Member of the Kravis Leadership Institute in California and locally active as an angel investor/mentor and Board Member for Rockies Venture Club as well as an advisor with the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network. Best known for driving rapid growth and using leadership skills to build high performance organizations, Mr. McGregor has worked for both public and privately held companies such as Herman Miller Inc. and Knoll International and led startups beginning with as few as 5 people or multinationals with over 5,000. Under his leadership, these firms have been cited by Fortune Magazine as “One of the Most Admired” and 100 Best Companies to Work For” and received acknowledgement for innovation through awards such as Best of the Decade by Time Magazine, and Best Consumer Products of the last 100 years by Fast Company. With his partner Charles, Mr. McGregor now concentrates on new venture development or organizations that are rapidly scaling using their experience in competitive strategy and organizational development, along with their interests in life sciences, new product development, and lean manufacturing. Mr. McGregor received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Pre-Med from the University of Texas at Austin, then followed with postgraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. He enjoys fly fishing, open water diving and a good glass of white Burgundy. Having lived and worked around the world in over 10 cities Mr. McGregor now happily lives in downtown Denver with his wife, Lynn, who has a private practice in clinical psychotherapy and teaches at Denver University.

DuWayne Peterson

DuWayne Peterson

DuWayne Peterson is currently Vice President of the Colorado Angel Investors, an angel group, located in Fort Collins and affiliated with the Rockies Venture Club. He is a Board Member of the Rockies Venture Club and the Innosphere, an incubator located in Fort Collins. He is a founding member of the Pasadena Angels, an angel group located in Pasadena, California. From 1991 until 2010 he managed a consulting firm, DuWayne Peterson Associates that worked with start­up companies, VCs and Nasdaq, serving as the board of several VC backed start­ups as the independent director. Prior to 1991, he was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for several large firms including Merrill Lynch, Citibank, Security Pacific Bank and RCA. He began his career in IT with Ford Motor Company. Mr. Peterson received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from MIT and a MBA from UCLA. DuWayne moved to Fort Collins from California in 2010 and lives with his wife, Nancy and is surrounded by his daughter’s family and several grandchildren who also live in Fort Collins.He does sneak away in the coldest months to a second home in Palm Desert, California.

Fletcher Richman

Fletcher Richman

Fletcher Richman is a engineer, entrepreneur, and a VC. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he started a couple of failed startups before cofounding Spark Boulder, a student incubator and coworking space that teaches students modern technology skills and provides a space coworking and events. He also helped start TEDxCU, and built a lot of cool hardware including gloves that use motion to control music.

Fletcher was the first intern at PivotDesk, a Techstars company backed by Foundry Group. That internship turned into a full time role as a Growth Engineer after graduating school, where he built analytics infrastructure and data-driven marketing systems.

Fletcher’s current role is Platform Manager at Galvanize Ventures. Galvanize is a 21st century school for entrepreneurs and engineers. Fletcher works for their venture arm to provide support, resources, and scalable systems to the portfolio companies.

Dan Sallis

Dan Sallis

Dan Sallis, CEO at OrderStorm and general technologist. He developed the OrderStorm e-business framework that enables SMBs to easily integrate complex applications into their own websites. He also built the first e-commerce application at DishNetwork in the late 1990s and has been building web applications since the inception of the internet. His son, Danny, is in training for the US Army Special Forces and his daughter, Maria, is a software developer at NetResults in Golden, Colorado. Dan lives in Ken Caryl with his wife, Jodie Barr, who also works in technology at NetSuite. He is an avid backcountry skier & private pilot.

Praful Shah

Praful Shah is an angel investor focused on social impact, and has invested in 50 start-up companies. He is a co-founder for Principium, Angel in Residence for Innosphere, and a member of Investor Circle. He spent over thirty years as a scientist and an executive in research and development departments of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. After finishing high school in India, he emigrated to USA and obtained B.S. (Chemistry), MBA (Finance) and PhD in Pharmaceutics.

She advises start-up companies and mature business how to streamline business operations, set infrastructure and minimize costs utilizing technology so owners can optimize business returns and personal net-worth. AMG is distinguished from its peers through a unique offering of customized commercial banking, financing, cash management, and wealth management solutions as well as access to unique alternative investments. AMG also have a PE group within the AMG family which connects with companies seeking strong strategic financial partners.

David Talon is the Managing Partner for iGrowth Strategies and Director, Latin America for AEA Advisors. His 20+ years of broad-based global business experience in clean technology, IT, textiles and chemicals spans five continents and nearly 60 countries. As a corporate executive, David led a $50 million manufacturing division, focusing on international business development, operations, global sales and negotiations. He has planned, designed, developed and executed business expansion initiatives, multi-regional strategic alliances, distribution networks and joint ventures.

Steve B. Warnecke

Steve B. Warnecke, CEO of Evolutionary Genomics, Inc., an agricultural research company. Steve is also Chair of the Board and CFO of VetDC, Board Member of CereScan, SVP of Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation, Board Member of Rockies Venture Club and Board Member of the University of Iowa Cardiovascular Research Center. Prior positions include CFO of Targeted Medical Pharma, CFO at Bacterin International, Lead Independent Director/Audit Committee Chair for Evolving Systems, Inc.,

Board member of Boppy Company, Senior Vice-President of Strategic Planning for First Data/Western Union and Chief Financial Officer for Frontier Airlines. Mr. Warnecke graduated from the University of Iowa prior to spending the first twenty years of his career in the construction industry.

Tim Woods

Tim Woods

Tim Woods is a Managing Director in the Denver office of CBIZ MHM, LLC. He has worked in public accounting and consulting for the past 20 years, focusing on financial statement audits for both publicly-traded and privately-held companies. Tim specializes in financial and reporting issues, and is a subject matter expert in the areas of derivatives and hedging activities, complex debt and equity transactions, including stock based compensation, and foreign exchange. He has extensive experience in accounting for business combinations and variable interest entities, as well as with issues in manufacturing and cost accounting, leasing, and revenue recognition. Tim also has expertise with mergers and acquisitions as well as initial and secondary public offerings and private placements.
