50% of new businesses are gone within the first year. And, after five years, only 5% of new businesses are still around. That means that only 5% of entrepreneurs know how to create a sustainable business.
As a new entrepreneur, you understand your products and services, but do you know how or where to get necessary funding to get your business off the ground? Once it is off the ground, are you aware of and do you have the knowledge and expertise to deal with all aspects of creating a sustainable business?
The RVC has developed the Investors Pitch Academy to fulfill the need in the market place for a broader and deeper depth of service to the new and growing entrepreneur.
What is the Investors Pitch Academy?
We created the Investor Pitch Academy as a program to help new and/or growing businesses create the kind of business that is sustainable and attractive to investors. Educational workshops, mentoring, coaching and the 5-minute pitch presentation help business owners like you.
The Investor Pitch Academy provides you with:
- Assistance in establishing and building a solid business practice
- Know-how assistance to find needed funding resources
- Skills to build a sustainable business
- As an entrepreneur you receive screening of your plan along with feedback
- A comprehensive workshop to help you create and build a successful business
- Mentoring from business owners who have been there / done that
- Coaching to help you develop a clear, focused and powerful presentation
- Necessary tools to better equip you to find and attract needed funding
- You are better able to build a sustainable businesses that could otherwise fail
- You first create an application on the Business Catapult site
- You are then sent an invitation for the Investor Pitch Academy
- Once you accept, reviewers go through your plan with critiques
- You are then paired with a presentation coach and are scheduled to attend a workshop which is typically held on the Friday preceding the regular meeting on the second Tuesday of the month.
- You are ready for a 5-minute presentation at a monthly Rockies meeting
- Last, you are paired with a mentor to help you with specific issues
The Investor Pitch Academy is for any business that needs help to take their business to the next level. It is also required in order to be able to present a five minute pitch to RVC members. The cost is only $125 for RVC members, $149 for non-members.
This includes (at no additional cost):
- Input from reviewers on your submission to help you prepare your 5-minute pitch
- Templates and pre-workshop preparation materials
- One half-day educational workshop
- One complimentary entry at the monthly meeting
- One hour mentoring after your 5-minute pitch presentation
- A 5-minute pitch at a monthly dinner meeting where investors and those who know investors attend
