John Backlund has extensive experience in entrepreneurship as well as both investment and commercial banking. His commercial banking stint incorporated credit analysis, commercial and consumer lending, and correspondent banking. Backlund was an investment banking officer in large commercial banking organizations in both Denver and Chicago. His experience in that arena consisted of sales, trading and underwriting as well as deal origination and management for tax-exempt issuers. His entrepreneurial experience is primarily comprised of being the developer and president of a nationwide bank marketing organization that created investment products for retail and institutional usage. As part of that effort, he spearheaded the creation of a mutual fund family and then served as president and director of an investment company. During his 30 year banking and entrepreneurial career, Backlund has been instrumental in the placement of over $1 billion in debt and equity financing on behalf of both governmental and commercial entities. He currently operates as a financing consultant to both high and low technology Denver area developing companies that are contemplating raising capital
Backlund received an MBA and CPA designation while studying at Northwestern’s Kellogg School. His undergraduate degree is in economics and political science from Southern Methodist University.
